What is the HCG Diet?

If you fail to follow the diet you will fail to lose weight. If you only follow the diet without taking HCG, you are simply starving yourself because there is no fat in the bloodstream to burn. What food am I allowed to eat?

The HCG diet is balanced, unlike many extreme “fad” diets out there. It consists of a healthy variety of protein, vegetables and fruit, with a small amount of starch. You eat them in specific portions and combinations as outlined by Dr. Simeons. Allowed proteins are veal (low grade), beef (95% lean whole cuts), chicken breast (boneless, skinless), crab, crayfish, lobster, shrimp, and any fresh, white-fleshed fish. Allowed vegetables are asparagus, beet greens, cabbage, celery, chard, chicory greens, cucumber, fennel, green salad, onion, red radishes, spinach, and tomato. Allowed fruits are apples, strawberries, oranges, and grapefruit. Limited starches include grissini (breadstick) or Melba toast. Vegetarian protein substitutions (may slow weight loss) are a protein shake, soy patty, egg (1 whole + 3 egg whites), cottage cheese or fat-free milk.

Why can’t I just go on a 500 calorie diet without the HCG?

In order to answer this question you need to understand how the body stores and uses fat. Dr. Simeons identified three separate fat stores:

1. Normal fat: This type of fat can be likened to a checking account from which the body can easily draw energy or deposit it as needed. Normal fat doesn’t take a lot of effort to lose.

2. Structural fat: Pads the various organs, protects the arteries and cushions the bony prominences. You don’t ever want to lose this fat. It is vital to your health and well being. Yet, on the typical “starvation” diet, this is the fat you lose when the normal fat is depleted.

3. Abnormal fat: This is much like a bank safe deposit box, where fat is stored and basically locked away. This fat is very difficult to lose via exercise and calorie restriction, but with the help of HCG the body readily pulls fat from these “last resort” fat stores.

Bottom line: If you go on a 500-calorie diet without HCG, the body uses the normal fat and then starts to use the structural fat and muscle. Will I be hungry on the HCG diet?

Do I have to exercise while on the HCG diet?

No. Exercise is not a mandatory part of the program. While vigorous exercise may increase the amount of weight you lose while on this plan, it is not a significant increase and is not recommended, because on a 500 calorie diet you can easily become too exhausted. The Importance of Magnesium

Aluminum in food and drink containers, baking powder and anti-perspirants blocks many normal magnesium functions.  Unfortunately, a staple of our society’s diet is white flour and 85% of its magnesium has been removed.  Our high consumption of fats and proteins inhibits magnesium absorption.  Environmental pollutants in air, soil and water, emotional stresses and many prescription drugs all aggravate magnesium depletion. 

80% or more of the Unites States population is deficient in magnesium including many who take supplements regularly.  These people may still think that regular magnesium supplements will fix magnesium deficiency.  Unfortunately, this is not the case.  The stress of our modern lifestyle, whether chemical, environmental or mental, depletes magnesium reserves far more rapidly than was previously realized.

Magnesium to Calcium Ratio

The ratio between magnesium and calcium is very important when dealing with the cause and prevention of a number of disorders including cardiovascular health, heart disease and high blood pressure. The absorption and metabolism of magnesium depends upon calcium intake and vice versa.  Therefore, the balance between these two minerals is especially important.  In view of the overwhelming benefits of magnesium, the traditional ratio of approximately 2 parts calcium to 1 part magnesium needs to be revised.  The ideal ratio for most people’s needs is equal amounts of calcium and magnesium.  If calcium consumption is high, then magnesium intake also needs to be high.  Since calcium and magnesium depend on each other to be assimilated into your body, they should never be taken alone.  Milk has a ratio of about 8 calcium to 1 magnesium causing a problem with milk drinkers.  The high calcium intake can cause a magnesium deficiency which creates ill health.

Magnesium regulates the entrance and utilization of calcium in the cells.  Without magnesium, calcium remains in the body unused.  This will result in calcium deposits in the joints which aggravates arthritis, gallstones, kidney stones and in extreme cases, calcification of the brain and other body organs.  This, in turn, results in memory loss as well as the loss of ability to reason and eventually, the termination of life.  All of these conditions have frequently been known to disappear after taking extra magnesium.

(Oman)—Noting that the frankincense given to Jesus after He was born probably came across the deserts from Oman, the BBC has published an interesting article detailing the history of the precious fragrance and why scientists believe it may someday cure cancer.

“Cancer starts when the DNA code within the cell’s nucleus becomes corrupted,” says Suhail. “It seems frankincense has a re-set function. It can tell the cell what the right DNA code should be. Frankincense separates the ‘brain’ of the cancerous cell—the nucleus—from the ‘body’—the cytoplasm, and closes down the nucleus to stop it from reproducing corrupted DNA codes.”

According to the report, “Working with frankincense could revolutionize the treatment of cancer. Currently, with chemotherapy, doctors blast the area around a tumor to kill the cancer, but that also kills healthy cells, and weakens the patient. A Highly Acidic body

A highly acidic pH level  puts the pancreas, liver, and all the body’s organs at risk. Because of the important role played by the liver in removing acid waste from the body, liver function is particularly at risk when acids accumulate. When acidity prevents the liver and pancreas from regulating blood sugar, the risk of diabetes will increase.

We already know that sodium bicarbonate dramatically slows the progress of chronic kidney disease but few have followed the logical conclusion that it would also be a front line defense against diabetes. Not only does high acidity make you vulnerable to diabetes. The impact of diabetes on the body increases the level of acid waste. Therefore improper pH balance puts diabetics at greater risk for complications such as kidney failure, gangrene and blindness. A diabetic suffers from an excess of glucose in the bloodstream, glucose that cannot be delivered properly to the body’s cells due to lack of insulin. As the liver absorbs more and more of the excess glucose, its ability to remove toxins from the body becomes impaired. As the toxins multiply, the acid level in the body increases.

Because glucose is not delivered properly to the body’s cells, the cells start to malfunction. They expel increasing amounts of acid waste. Some of the excess acid filters through the kidneys, causing damage that can lead to kidney failure. Some of the acid accumulates in the liver, further damaging the liver’s ability to remove toxins. Acid that is not filtered out or stored can attach to and harden the cell walls, further preventing the cells from absorbing nutrients. Eventually the cells die, starting with the glucose-dependent eyes and the extremities where it’s more difficult for nutrients to reach. Blindness and gangrene can result.

Many different causes exist for the disease called Renal Tubular Acidosis which also causes the blood to become too acidic and leads to kidney failure if not treated early. Without proper treatment, chronic acidity of the blood leads to growth retardation, kidney stones, bone disease, chronic kidney disease, and possibly total kidney failure. In all cases, the first goal of therapy is to neutralize acid in the blood, and this is done with IV and oral sodium bicarbonate, though different treatments may be needed to address the different underlying causes of acidosis.

Fortunately, a significant reduction of acids in your body can lead to organ regeneration and improved health. A diet that’s more alkaline can help you reverse the damage caused by acidity and diabetes. The right combination of fresh vegetable juices, for example, can help your body break down and destroy excessive acid waste. For a doubly positive impact, eliminate refined carbohydrates from your diet. Not only do refined carbohydrates make it difficult to control your blood sugar balance, but they also increase your body’s acidity.
